Latest News OneAudio Mu.2 bookshelf speakers may rule them all….

The Autumn edition of our newsletter has just arrived, and in it we featured a new Australian speaker – the OneAudio Mu.2. At the time of writing the newsletter we had a pair of what we believed to be the final version of the speaker for audition, and if you are on our mailing list you will be able to read our findings – they were good enough to add to our range in what is already a very crowded market.

Late last week we received the final production models – I had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with them – and was reminded yet again why I am in this industry. I am a great lover of music – and the equipment that we sell is simply a means to that end. The sensation of the hairs standing up on the back of your neck or experiencing cold shivers at a superb live performance, irrespective of the genre, is an indication of an involvement in the performance at an emotional level.

“It really did not matter what I threw at these speakers
they handled it beautifully.”

To experience the same sensations while listening to recorded music on a domestic system is rarer, and when achieved it is a great indication of the quality of that system. Despite their diminutive size, the Mu.1 is only 38cm high, and their relatively inexpensive price ($5,500) the Mu.1 immediately offered that level of involvement. In fact I was taken aback by the openness, the detail, blackness and yet musicality of these speakers. In so many cases one of these attributes works at the expense of another. It really did not matter what I threw at these speakers they handled it beautifully. The number of truly memorable bookshelf speakers that I have heard over the years (how many of you recall the Epos ES14?) is a short list, and I am sure that the Mu.1 will take its place on that list.

The chief designer is already known to many of our clientele. Brad Serhan was the founder of Orpheus loudspeakers, a company he sold to allow him to concentrate on contract design work. He is ½ of the design team behind another favourite speaker of ours, the Axis VoiceBox ‘S. Recently Brad has partnered with a number of like-minded people forming Brigadiers Audio, and it is this group who are responsible for the development of the Mu.1.

I have always had a soft spot for bookshelf speakers. We now have four outstanding examples in store – the Triangle Esprit Titus EZ at $1,699, the Axis VoiceBox ‘S’ at $2,500, the B&W DM805D3 at $8,500, and now completing the line-up is the OneAudio Mu.2.

Drop in with your favorite piece of music for a listen – you will be impressed.

N.B. If you would like to meet Brad and other members of Brigadiers Audio drop in around 6pm on Thursday 23rd of March. Brad and the boys will be here for a couple of hours to demonstrate their speakers and answer any questions that you may have.
