A/V - Stunning Interior.
With this project we had the challenge on our hands whereby it was crucial our system not only provide the clients with their overall lifestyle needs but was also in keeping with and work well with the design and specification of the very highly regarded building company and Architects firm: Bellevarde Constructions and Rice Daubney Architects. Alberto Vangi (sales consultant), Trevor Livingstone (Crestron Programmer). Craig Leydon (Head installer), Lee Vaughan & Ben Neale from EBM systems (C-bus specialists) all formed the team that worked towards developing a smart home that can only be described as great to use and amazing to live in.
Beginning with the Kitchen area you find a Crestron 15 inch colour touch screen which has an extensive control set, including lighting, cooling and heating, security and scheduling.
Working within the C-bus system we have the ability to control the pool equipment, the external gates, the garage door, the security cameras, air conditioning, in-floor heating, exhaust fans, external sun louvers, all of the internal and external lighting.
The C-bus lighting is controlled by the stylish stainless steel Reflection key switches. These Reflection switches compliment the minimalist architectural theme of the home. Simply at the touch of a Reflection button you can set the entire mood of the home, be it party, dining or relaxation.
In the main bedroom the C-bus Reflection switches control the external window motorised sun louvres and also feature a "Goodnight" mode. The home owner finds the Goodnight mode extremely useful, by turning off all the internal house lights when they go to bed at night.
The air conditioning is also controlled via C-bus, so if the owner is out for the day and wants the air conditioning to turn on to heat or cool the home in the afternoon they can easily schedule this to occur.
The security system has an interface to the C-bus allowing the two systems to work seamlessly together. When the home owner is leaving they simply press the "arm" button on the security pad. This arms the security, activates C-bus to start a shut down procedure of the house, and notifies the security monitoring company they are leaving.
Upon returning and entering the code, security is disarmed, the monitoring company notified and C-bus starts a "welcome home" lighting scene.
This home also has a totally keyless access control to all external gates, garage doors and external house doors. This is also interfaced to C-bus, so the owner can enter their code on the stainless steel keypads at any of these locations, the gate or door will open and the C-bus will start a welcome scene turning on a path way of lights to the house.
They can easily add or delete keyless entry access codes via the home computer. The children, relatives and the house cleaner can all be issued with their own security codes allowing them access to one gate or all.
The home has high resolution colour security cameras monitoring the property, these cameras are controlled by a professional grade DVR, this allows for recording only when a person comes into the viewing range of the camera, hence saving on recording time.
The owner can view any event, record it to USB or disk and give it the police as evidence. The pictures from the intercom and security camera can be viewed on the Crestron touch panel or any LCD within the home.
The phone system in the house can also communicate to the front gate intercom and with touch of button on the phone handset the owner can open the gate.
Unlike many front gate systems this has a thermostatic heater to stop the camera lens fogging in cold or wet weather, the high resolution colour camera gives the perfect picture of guests at the front gate, the keyless entry for pure convenience and the high grade stainless steel gives the perfect finish to entry of this elegant home.
In the living room located next to the kitchen is a 37 inch Sharp LCD TV. Concealed on the opposite side of the joinery is a Panasonic DVD /player/recorder/digital tuner along with Foxtel box and a Crestron processor. Making the area very simple to control including the surrounding lighting a Crestron touch panel is the means of control.
Moving into the pool table area is a great room to enjoy a game of pool while watching a 42 inch Fujitsu plasma scream and surround sound through 5 Speakercraft Aim directional ceiling speakers and a Velodyne subwoofer. In powering the ceiling speakers and providing the video switching a Yamaha amplifier was used. Maintaining uniformity in design the remaining electronics were the same as the living room, with Crestron again leading the way in control of lighting and the audio visual.
Walking down the beautifully designed stainless steel stair case you find yourself entering a very cosy dedicated theatre room. An Infocus projector projects an excellent image onto a 92 inch Screen science screen. Arising from a great idea of the owner, the screen is also mounted onto a hinge arm that allows the screen to be swung away from the wall to allow access into the pool’s pump room located behind the screen.
To produce sound quality that is sure to impress all theatre goers, JM Lab Chorus 800 series speakers were used for the front, centre and side-wall mounted rear effects. A Velodyne subwoofer adds the finishing touches to the sound with thunderous deep controlled bass. Powering the JM Lab speakers and providing the video switching is a Yamaha RX-V1800 surround receiver. Control of all this plus lighting is via a Crestron touch screen panel.
On the top floor of the house is the master bedroom that has the most breath taking water views. These become most evident once the motorised steel 3 sectioned louvers are opened fully via the Crestron touch screen panel. Apart from the view one can watch Digital TV, DVD or Foxtel on a 32 inch LCD TV that can be also be adjusted to a more comfortable viewing angle via a swing Vogel bracket or pushed back flat on the wall.
The clients now can live and enjoy modern technology with great ease in what can only be described as one of Australia’s most desirable homes with the most amazing furnishings and top end finishes, all blended beautifully with a smart home installation by Len Wallis Audio.
