This installation won both the CEDIA 'Best Intergated Home $150,000 - $300,000' and the SmartHouse 'Installation of the Year' for 2009.
Fine lines, concealed, attention to detail, no visual presence of technology where possible was the clients simple brief for this product. The 103” Panasonic plasma and the Mirror image technology LCD screen in the bathroom was the client’s only specific request.
Extremely easy to use was priority number two in the scope, and number one priority from the interior Designer was “no visual presence of technology” I don’t want to see anything!
One of Sydney’s most respected architects was appointed to look after the project and all aspects of the project had to follow there strict architectural guidelines to create a vibrant minimalist living environment.
The apartment which was originally 4 existing apartments which was developed into one large living space of approximately 600sq M, however the client requested that one area could be segregated into a separate guest quarters.
By integrating C-Bus and Crestron we where able to provide the client with a user friendly all-in-one tailored interface solution to control not only the Audio Visual but also the lighting, air-conditioning, blinds and louvers on the balconies.
Biometric locks have been incorporated as part of the C-Bus system to help create a solution to segregate the apartment for when guests stay over. When a guest arrives their finger print is taken on the finger print reader and then stored onto the owner’s computer. They then access the back part of the apartment which becomes their own apartment with living room and kitchen area etc. The master kitchen C-Bus panel is automatically disabled from working the guest area – but will work the rest of the apartment. Once the guests leave they press the finger print reader and the master panel in the kitchen is again made aware allowing the master kitchen panel to once again control the whole house.
Keeping to the architects guidelines of giving the apartment as minimalistic feel as possible Stealth Acoustic speakers where installed in the ceilings through out the majority of the apartment. The shallow ceiling space the necessitated some specific modification of the speakers and also of the ceilings.
In living room a 60”inch Pioneer Plasma has been fitted in a drop down from the ceiling lifter.
To create a cinema like experience without the need for excessive blocking out of light living room two has been fitted with a Panasonics 103”inch plasma. Getting the 103” plasma into the 5th floor apartment was a challenge in itself requiring a barge with a crane on it to be docked out on the water to lift the screen up on to the balcony. Specially built custom framing was designed to hold the weight of the 220kg 103” plasma in conjunction with the specific Panasonic wall bracket.
