This compact system is amazing. It has a blu-ray player with HDMI out to your TV, including 3D capability, and of course this player will handle DVD as well, plus CD. You can attach a subwoofer for more bass, and also use Yamaha's clever Air Surround Xtreme to get simulated surround sound without the extra speakers. The HDMI link can also route the TV sound back to the MCR-755 provided your TV is compliant with Audio Return Channel (ARC).
Then there's the DAB+ digital radio, FM radio, USB input for iPhone/iPad etc. But the other big feature is Network Connection via ethernet cable. This will give you access to YouTube via your modem/router, but also enables other things. The Ethernet port on the MCR-755 adds a new level of functionality to an already feature-packed Micro System. By connecting the MCR-755 to a network, users can stream movies stored on a PC, Mac or network attached storage (NAS) device. Simply allow ‘file sharing’ and begin playing your media from these devices. The MCR-755 will also stream photos and music files from a PC, Mac or NAS device.
Apart from this up to date technology, Yamaha have also attended to the basics for great sound. The amplifier is a low-noise 30w x 2 channel digital amplifier, while the speakers are two-way bookshelf designs which show the trickle-down from Yamaha's upmarket Soavo line. The cabinets and drivers are built to a high standard and deliver rich but well balanced sound.
