The Aktimate Micro speakers follow the basic formula set out by earlier versions (the Mini and the Maxi) in having an active and a passive speaker, Power is 40w x 2 in Class D (digital) and a universal power supply means they can be used anywhere in the world without changing the voltage settings. There is no remote control this time, but input selection is done by the left knob on the front of the active speaker, while volume is on the right.
The iPod/iPhone dock is in the top of this speaker, while the USB and 3.5mm stereo inputs are on the back panel. Cables for these and for the second speaker are supplied.
Right away you can see these as being an ideal computer speaker, however they could also be the basis of a small system for any room, particularly if teamed with one of the new audio streaming “tuners” that are becoming popular, such as the NAD C446, or even simply having a DAB+ radio and iPod connected.
